Similarities.

Springtime I believe, is finally here. A time of growth. A time of renewal. A time of rebirth. A wonderful reminder for us mommies who have ever lost a child. That even through the harshest conditions, another beautiful sunset is awaiting us in the future. A beautiful flower will blossom up from the cold frozen ground.

Today was the first morning, there wasn't a crisp winter feeling in the air when I stepped outside to take Sarah to school. The sky was still radiating from the initial wave of sunlight. Almost instantly, my arms and cheeks were warmed from the sun gleaming down upon us. But the air was still cool. I looked around at all of the trees producing vibrant green buds. Life was overflowing from their bleak branches. And suddenly, as smells can take you back to another place and time, it smelled just as it did at the end of August, beginning of September.

I took my time as I walked to the car. So familiar. So similar. If I closed my eyes I could picture that first week of school, still pregnant with her, while walking my kids to class. I could picture the first morning visits to the hospital room after going all night not having seen our beautiful girl. I could picture early morning preparations for a princesses funeral.

Spring offers so much hope. So much promise. Promise that we will grow and strive even after the rough months. Now, spring offers little reminders of Savannah as well.

Reminders that she too was reborn...

Just like the delicate pink rose buds;
she bloomed from her own trials and tribulations.

i'm hoping that spring brings me that feeling of hope soon. so far i've just been dreading spring b/c of the newness of everything. i don't want to be reminded of life when that's the very thing my baby boy no longer has. :'(

I have often thought of spring as God's reminder to us of his promises. It comes and goes in the blink of an eye, but no matter what, it all still belongs to him and is beautiful in his eyes.

I'm sure you know this Casting Crowns song. It's a favorite of mine.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours

So I never have my volume up on my computer but I just turned it up to show something to Sarah Hazel. To my surprise, Who Am I is the first song playing on your playlist. How funny since I just quoted it above!!!

-It never goes away either. The smells, the seasons changing, bringing a FLOOD of memories. Perhaps the memories lose some of the "Kick in the gut" feeling, but it never ceases to amaze me how powerful these reminders can be. It is bittersweet - really with alot of sweet in there.

Spring is bringing me a mix of emotions this year. I'm so glad it brings you hope and peace. Yes, they are reborn with Him!
